Volunteer

Tzedakah Fairs

Work as a volunteer at synagogue Tzedakah fairs that are held throughout the year. Volunteers staff booths and hand out literature about domestic abuse and SHALVA.

Dinner Committee

Our major fundraiser is the SHALVA Unity Dinner held annually in December. This is an enormous undertaking and we always need more helping hands in the planning, publicizing and carrying out of this event. Each year our goal is to significantly increase attendance from the previous year.

Cell Phones

SHALVA collects used cell phones. As a certified domestic violence agency, we are allowed to sell these phones to recycling companies. We receive between $.50 and $4.00 per phone. In past years, this program has raised over $14,000. Volunteers find locations where used cell phones can be collected. Volunteers may also choose to organize a cell phone drive through their temple, sisterhood, social action group, school PTA, etc.

Arranging Speaking Opportunities

Volunteers find locations and arrange speaking opportunities in their community, in private homes or public venues.

Event Planning

Volunteers help plan and facilitate a variety of outreach events throughout the community.
