SHALVA donations are welcome in many different forms and amounts. You can support a specific SHALVA project, buy a Unity Dinner ticket or simply send out a card in honor or memory of a loved one.
SHALVA is a not-for-profit, tax-exempt 501 (C) (3) organization, and donations are tax deductible as provided by law.
General Donations Online
To keep our doors open and our phones ringing, SHALVA depends on its loyal donors to support the general operating costs of doing business. SHALVA is committed to providing therapeutic services at no cost to our clients. We appreciate your generosity.
Unity Dinner
This is SHALVA’s largest annual fundraising event. To purchase a ticket or join the Friends of SHALVA Committee ($600+ donation required). If you would like to underwrite any part of the banquet or ad book, please call SHALVA’s development department at 773-583-4673.
Memory & Honor Cards
Purchase memory/honor donation cards, sold in packages of twelve, to have at home when you wish to send a thoughtful message. You may also call the SHALVA office and purchase these cards individually. Mailing is included in the price of individual cards.
In-kind Donations
SHALVA has two in-kind donation programs.
- Gift Card Program – You can purchase gift cards and donate them to SHALVA. Therapists will distribute these cards to clients in need of emergency food and/or necessities from stores like Target, Jewel or Dominick’s, etc.
- Cell-phone Donation Project – You can collect old cell phones at your office or synagogue or from your friends and drop them off at various collection sites throughout the metro Chicago area. Click here to download a list of drop off locations. This is a great opportunity for Bar/Bat Mitzvah Projects and office or Synagogue collections. Major Projects
- Legal Liaison Initiative’s goal is to assist SHALVA’s clients in dealing with their legal questions. By addressing this important issue, clients will be better able to utilize their therapy sessions to focus on domestic violence issues rather than on their legal questions. Check with your employer’s Human Resources Department to see if your company has a matching gift program. If so, you can double, or even triple, your donation to SHALVA just by filling out some simple paperwork and sending it to us with your donation.
